Scientific and Technological Expertise
Marinexcell is pride of its outstanding scientific and technological team led by Prof. Buganim, a globally renowned scientist in the stem cell and reprogramming domains. It is in the forefront of developing innovative technologies.
The team has extensive and unique expertise, among a very few worldwide, in developing pioneering non-Yamanaka methods to convert adult cells into induced pluripotent stem cells (iPSCs). These methods, that avoid genetic modifications, allow to overcome evolutionary barriers of different species.
It is not only the scientific know-how, the team is also experienced in working with bovine cultured meat, having developed specific solutions for this market.
In addition, the team also has a unique in-house “know-how” for producing growth factors. Providing the flexibility of producing several growth factors that might be needed for achieving our goals, while allowing cost-effectiveness.
Why can we develop the product?
Our proficiency in nuclear reprogramming techniques enables the conversion of adult cells into embryonic stem-like cells, known as induced pluripotent stem cells (iPSCs).
While literature on the derivation of embryonic stem cells from shrimp, lobster, and crab is limited, our methodology not only facilitates the creation of these cells but also ensures the sustained propagation and growth of iPSCs, even in sub-optimal conditions.
We firmly believe that our technology addresses a significant bottleneck in the cultured seafood industry, offering a breakthrough solution for the production of cultured meat.
